WKDK has been serving Newberry County and the surrounding area since 1946. WKDK has always been heavily involved in the Newberry area. This has been demonstrated in many ways over the years. WKDK has worked with many educational institutions in Newberry County, including Newberry College, the Newberry County public and private schools, as well as untold numbers of civic groups, churches and organizations. WKDK's format is a variety blend of oldies, along with current Adult Contemporary and Country songs. We also continue to have a heavy emphasis on local news and sports. We cover the Newberry County School Board, City and County Councils, and the Board Meetings of Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Our News Department endeavors to cover all events of interest to our listeners. The most important part of our operation, we believe, is our heavy emphasis on local news and information. Since our beginning, WKDK has put forth a significant effort in keeping the people of Newberry County and surrounding areas informed about what's happening in the area. This is all a part of our daily operation. Heavy coverage of major events have always been well received and appreciated by our family of listeners. These events include the tornado of 1984, the flood of 1986, and even local connections of September 11, 2001. Sports coverage, particularly on the local level, is heavy. This includes coverage as the official flagship station of Newberry College and Newberry High School football, basketball, and baseball. There is also coverage of national, regional, and statewide events-including the USC Gamecocks, Clemson Tigers, and The Masters, just to name a few! We believe that these are some of the reasons WKDK continues to be the dominant radio station in the Newberry County Radio Market. WKDK has been either #1 or #2 in small market radio across the state for many years. Our goal continues to be: TOTAL INVOLVEMENT and TOTAL RADIO!
