The history of the city is closely connected with the names of the heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812: N.N. Raevsky, A.P. Yermolov, D.V. Davydov. Here, in the shady alleys of Kamenka, the movement of the Decembrists was born. P.I. Ivanov came to the Davydovs' house here, to secret meetings. Pestel, S.I. Muravev-Apostol, M.P. The great Russian poet A.S. Pushkin, exiled to the south of Russia by the tsarist government, came to Kamenka several times during the years 1820-1822. Here he was breathing easily to the “supervised exiled poet”; here he rested with his soul.
