Acid jazz, or sometimes called club jazz, is a musical classification that blends the elements of jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, as well as disco. Acid jazz emerged from the London club scene back in the middle part of the mid-1980s in the rare groove movement and was a play on the acid house genre. From London, it has extended to Eastern Europe, Brazil, and the United States.

The growth of electronic club music in the mid to late 1990s ushered in a decline in interest on Acid jazz. In the twenty-first century, the movement became indefinite as a music genre. Many groups and artists that might have been characterized as acid jazz are now seen as neo soul, jazz funk, or jazz rap.
