Mini is a small car manufactured by British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successor from 1959 to 2000. The original model of this car was considered an icon of England in the 1960s. Initially Mini was sold by Austin and Morris, as Austin Seven and Morris Mini Minor. Austin Seven changed its name to Austin Mini in January 1962 until Mini became its own brand in 1969. Mini was eventually marketed again by Austin in 1980 and in 1988 became Rover Mini. BMW acquired the Rover Group (formerly British Leyland) in 1994, but retains the right to make cars with the MINI brand.
