VOLTAGE is a characteristic of the electric field and is the potential difference of two points inside the electric field.

Voltage (electrical potential) is measured by a device called a Voltmeter, you guessed it, voltage, i.e. the potential difference that causes current to flow, is measured in Volts (V). Just as for current, to increase the range of designations, there are multiple prefixes: (micro - microvolts (µV), miles - millivolts (mV), kilo - kilovolts (kV), mega - megawolts (MV). Voltage is also called EMF - electromotive force.
