GnomeLogic’s Merge Engine uses a scanner app that sellers can download to any Android smartphone, or dedicated handheld Android scanner, to make it quick and easy to submit packing list information to Amazon and avoid the manual processing fee.

The smartphone app version is the most convenient and accessible as it uses the camera to scan the barcode of an item, but using a dedicated handheld scanner is far quicker and more efficient in the long run.

Using a scanner also helps to eliminate human error when preparing a packing list. It’s all too easy to overlook slight differences in UPC/product number that could result in the wrong sizes or colors of an item being recorded, for example. When these mistakes are spotted further down the line, there is a long-winded process of trying to correct them, and this only leads to costly delays and unhappy customers.

How it works:

• Scan each item as it goes into the box

• Software automatically generates totals for each item

• Compare these to total shipment quantity to make sure they match, and catch any mistakes before sending to Amazon

• Sync shipment data from the scanner tool (on smartphone or barcode scanner) to your online account and download the Excel file

• Drop file into Merge Tool scan drop area

• Drop Amazon packing list file into Amazon drop area and hit sync

• Software will transfer the scan data into the Amazon pack slip, entering the items and quantities into the correct cells

• Errors will be flagged up automatically, before it’s too late!

The alternative – to manually check and record what has gone into every box, and then transfer this to an online form – is slow and clumsy, and leaves plenty of room for errors and oversights.
