HVAD heitir tindurinn? Einfalt mál að finna Med Hringsjá!

Svona lítur sjóndeildarhringurinn út frá hvaða stað sem er á Íslandi. Ofan á það bætast svo örnefni fjallanna, hæð og fjarlægð. Loksins er hægt að finna út hvað tindurinn þarna heitir!

Í þessarri fyrstu útgáfu er hægt að skoða nöfn 4000 fjalla, jökla, hóla og hæða um allt land.

Velja má staðsetningu handvirkt á korti eða nota sjálfvirka staðsetningu tækisins. Einnig er hægt að nota innbyggðan áttavita til að snúa landslaginu í rétta átt.

Verkefnið byggir á opnum gögnum frá Landmælingum Íslands og eru þau háð höfundarrétti þeirra.

This is what the horizon looks like from any position in Iceland. Also included are names of mountains, their height and distance. Finally you can figure out the name of that peak over there!

This first version includes the names of around 4000 mountains, glaciers and hills around Iceland.

The position can be selected from a map or using a built-in location service such as GPS. It is also possible to orient the horizon based on compass readings from the device.

The project is built using open access data from the National Land Survey of Iceland which is protected by their copyright.
