A ‘Clot Buster’ drug can save your life if you get it inside 3hours of having a stroke. But the drug can be administered only after a CT Scan. To ensure patients in Coimbatore region get access to the drug and CT scan as fast as possible, KMCH has launched the Mobile Stroke Unit. It provides a means to quicker and better stroke care when it’s needed most. Designed as a specialized emergency room on wheels, the Mobile Stroke Unit is staffed 24/7 with a critical care nurse, paramedic and CT technologist. It is equipped with a CT scanner that can immediately determine the type of stroke a patient is experiencing and how to treat it. The Mobile Stroke Unit includes lab testing equipment and clot-busting drugs that can greatly save the life of stroke patient. The Mobile Stroke Unit can reduce the time it takes to diagnose and treat patients for stroke, thus greatly improving survival and recovery of the patient.
