This book is a novel by the French writer "Alphonse Karr" (1808-1890) entitled "Under the Shades of the Sous les tilleuls", written in the year 1832 AD and Arabicized by Al-Manfalouti under the title "Majdulin or Under the Shades of a Linden".

This novel was formulated in a new and innovative style, which is the style of letters, relying on imagination, and digressions in describing the nature that he loved, and he spent his last days in his arms in a garden that he cared about and took care of its plantings and flowers. This novel revolves around an eccentric, poor, lively boy who loves reading and retirement, called "Stephen" who loved "Majdoline", the daughter of the owner of the house he used to live in and loved him, pledging that this love would last forever. Then the boy's outlook on life changed, and his loneliness dissipated. And his only concern became to see her smiling face, or to hear her voice, so that he would be happy and carried away with his dreams.
