MAT is designed to collect and report data about video quality of experience.

The Media Assessment Tool (MAT) is an application designed to collect and transmit data about a user’s mobile video quality of experience. This app highlights some of the key performance indicators captured by the mobile client. The MAT SDK anonymously collects, records, and transmits video quality and device metrics for analysis. The SDK also provides APIs for app developers to pull information easily from the SDK regarding the video QoE, device information, device analytics, device location, etc. The data is exported to a server were it is aggregated and analyzed. No personally identifiable information is recorded or transmitted, including no key press information, no contact information, etc.

This applications used background location updates to collected data. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
