Beautiful aquatic creatures - the mermaid girls - they penetrate many cultures of the world creating endless folklore stories and fairytales, rumoured by ancient sailors and medieval pirates about the merciless sirens (which is just another name for a "mermaid") attracting human with their sweet voice and impeccable body and graceful movement.

The first stories appeared in Ancient Assyria, in which the female goddess Atargatis transformed herself into a mermaid girl out of shame for accidentally killing her human lover, - this is what wikipedia says. Later the mermaids appeared in Greek Mythology, Western European tales, including Grimm brothers, and also in Russian and Eastern European myths. Practically everywhere! The sirens and mermaids have even been spotted and reported by Christopher Columbus while his exploration of the Caribbean!
