MPHW

MPHW est un service du secteur de la santé en milieu urbain de Telangana gouvernement.

MPHW is a path-breaking initiative of Telangana Government in Healthcare sector. Recognising the need to strengthen urban health institutions and provide quality health services to urban poor in Telangana State, Government has launched ‘MPHW ’ initiative in April 2018.

MPHW or neighbourhood clinics cater to the health needs of the poor and will be located mostly in urban slums. The Vision of the Government is to establish such clinic for every 10,000 people in Urban area of Telangana State. Department of Health & Family Welfare is untiringly working towards realisation of this Vision of the State Government. This would effectively mean 1000 Basti Dawakhana in GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) area alone.

MPHW include outpatient consultation, basic lab diagnosis, drugs and contraceptive dispensing, treatment of acute simple illness, immunisation services, antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, counselling and contraception services, screening for anaemia and conducting health promotional activities among others.

These MPHW will be attached to the nearest UPHCs. The facilities will also build referral linkage between Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) and other major health facilities. The Basthi Dawakhana are being set up where slums under a UPHC are distant, and it is not possible to create another UPHC, or where there is no adequate space within or near a slum to establish a UPHC.

GHMC will provide the necessary infrastructure like Buildings, while the Health Department will take care of Human Resources, Medicines, Treatment, Lab tests, Pharmacy aspects among others. Health Department has launched the MPHW app to monitor the number of patients visiting each clinic, attendance of staff at clinic, drugs management, lab tests management among others and provided the tabs in each clinic for the staff to utilise the app successfully.

MPHW have been well received by the people as evidenced by the growing number of patients visiting these clinics. A trend of upward growth in number of patients can also be seen which indicates the satisfaction level of the patients with the services provided, is more than satisfactory. This initiative is well received by the various public groups, NGOs, civil society including political parties. Also on the cards are diagnostic facilities and providing medical benefits to the citizens.
