A friend to a visually challenged person, Navipal helps the user to navigate easily. The application gives a voice response and uses GPS and GPRS that helps a user find the nearest places of interest such as ATMs, petrol pumps, Banks, Movie Theatres, Restaurants by Cuisine, Attractions, Shopping destinations by category, and emergency services like Hospitals and Police Stations!

Home Screen

On application start after showing splash screen “Home Screen” will come on display. App will speak up ‘You are on home screen. Please click on any item to select’. The home screen consists of four regions. User may press on any of these regions, the app will ask for confirmation by a voice response. The user will have to long press on the item selected and a new screen will open up corresponding to the selected item by the user.

How to Go?

When a user selects "How to Go", a screen will open up which has the starting location pre-filled with the current location of the user. The user will have to type the destination address and then click on directions to go on the Path Navigation screen. Once the user starts moving, the screen will automatically update the total distance left to travel and the app will give voice responses. However, the application does not automatically re-route the navigation steps if the user takes a wrong turn.

On clicking the network information button from any screen it will fetch the network information and the app will give a voice response. When user click “Where am I?” button from any screen, following action will be performed by app.

• In case of successful address receiving app will speak up the current location.

• In case of any error, the app will talk back to the user.

What’s Around

For finding any nearby POI, user will have to click on “What’s Around”. On long press, a POI category screen will open up and the user will have to select any POI category by a long press again. After selecting the category or sub category, user will have to select from the POIs and after selecting any one of them, the app will give a voice response to the user .When user reaches to this screen, App will do following actions:

• It will give a voice response to the user that he is on “POI category screen”. The user will have to select from any of the categories by long press and will open a new screen of “POI sub category screen”.

• The voice will again give a response to the user to select any item by long press

• As user select any category, a list of POIs is displayed on the screen

• App will speak the POI name on the touch

• In case of any error, this app will give a voice response about the error

• On selection of POI, user will navigate to POI list screen

Once the user has selected any POI from the list, next screen will open up with the following options

• Mark as Favorites

• How to Go

• Direction of POI

If a user marks that POI as favourite, he can navigate directly to it by clicking on My Favorite Places. Direction of POI will take the user directly to the path navigation screen.
