OPAL Green CarShare reservation system. OPAL residents and homeowners apply for membership, schedule reservations, and access vehicles through this app.

Island Rides has initiated a Green CarShare program for the OPAL Land Trust neighborhoods on Orcas Island. The program encourages OPAL homeowners and renters to reduce carbon emissions and provides access to electric vehicle use. The CarShare program has been made possible through a grant from the Washington Department of Transportation Zero-Emissions Access Program (ZAP).

Two cars have been purchased – a Chevy Bolt EV and a Chevy Bolt EUV. The Bolt EV is a hatchback, while the Bolt EUV is a crossover SUV. In addition to the two cars, 4 EV charging stations have been installed: 2 at April’s Grove and 2 at OPAL headquarters.

All OPAL homeowners and renters over the age of 21, with a valid driver’s license, insurance and a good driving history. If you meet the eligibility requirements and want to schedule a test drive, contact us at [email protected].
