Official App of the PISM Strategic Ark conference, meant as a platform of debate about how the West, or the community of democracies, should navigate to meet the challenges posed by the aggressive autocracies as well as to overcome internal difficulties, strengthen its political and economic potential, and find its way in a troubled world.

It is necessary to define what the “West”, “free world”, and “democratic community” mean today, and what values and interests we have in common. It is vitally important to our security and prosperity to enliven the discussion about how we can work together more closely and make our message attractive to the rest of the world.

The debate on the collective approach of the West will run parallel to the examination of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the course of military operations and aid to refugees. The West also must be creative in tackling global problems such as climate change and pandemics, and in answering the questions posed by globalisation and digital revolution.
