Reiki Healing might seem a Miracle but it Isn’t

This is a form of alternative medicine that dates back to 1922. Practitioners use a healing technique called palm healing whereby a universal energy is transferred through the palms of a practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing.

It is pseudoscience and bases its concept on what practitioners believe to be a universal life force. Reiki is an etymology from Japan made up of two joined words; rei and ki. Rei means soul or spirit while ki means vital energy. Translated to English, reiki means a feeling of mystery that prevails in sacred precincts of a shrine.

Does it work as we expect?

This type of Reiki healing uses a form of alternative therapy commonly referred to as energy healing. It involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner’s palms to their patient. Reiki is similar to magnetic spiritual healing since it also uses the art of transferring energy from the healer to the patient.

It is believed that it uses the energy fields around the body. However, it has been hard to prove its effectiveness scientifically but proponents say that it works.

Energy medicine aims at helping the flow of energy and removes the blocks in a similar way as in Chakra meditation. When the energy around the body is improved, it is believed that it can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing and reduce other symptoms of illness.

It is commonly referred to as palm healing or hands-on-healing. Some of its health benefits according to practitioners aid in relaxation thus assisting the body’s natural healing process.

It uses the healing effect that has been channeled from the practitioner, who channels the universal energy, which is a life energy that surrounds all human beings.

Modern technology and Reiki Healing

Practitioners point out that though it is not measurable by today’s scientific method, it can, however, be felt by people who practice this type of healing.

It induces relaxation and helps people to cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress and improve overall well-being. This medication, therefore, can help in treating cancer, heart diseases, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, infertility, autism, and Cohn’s disease.

Patients who had undergone this type of healing have appreciated its healing and came out better but opponents claim that it is not scientifically proven thus it none exists. Moreover, critics point out that it goes against the current understanding of laws of nature.

Nonetheless, scientists note that there is no quality research into its effectiveness. But despite it lacking sufficient backing evidence, its healing touch maybe worthwhile especially if it’s offered freely by volunteers.
