Now you can control your smart appliances, check their status, or even do a bunch of things at once — using just your voice. In the Home app, for example, you can create a scene named “I’m home” that opens the garage, unlocks the front door, and turns on the lights.

Siri Shortcuts show up right on your Lock screen.

An all‑new feature called Shortcuts makes the things you do often — like getting your morning coffee — even easier.2 Just tap the suggestion when it comes up on your Lock screen or in your search results. Done.

You can add Shortcuts to the apps you use all the time.

Shortcuts give you an even faster way to access apps. Say you travel often. Next time you create an itinerary in an app like Kayak, tap Add to Siri. Then choose a phrase, such as “Travel plans,” that will pull up your flight and hotel details just like that. As more and more apps integrate Siri capabilities, you can ask Siri to do so much more.

Shortcuts can do multiple things across multiple apps.

The new Shortcuts app gives you a library of useful shortcuts to choose from, like “Heading home.” Just say the words and Siri will text your ETA, start a playlist, and find the fastest route home — all at once. You can also create your own shortcuts to streamline tasks you do all the time.

“Hey Siri” is supported on iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or later, iPad Pro (except 12.9-inch, 1st generation), and iPad (5th generation or later) without being plugged into power. “Hey Siri” is supported on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iOS 8 or later while plugged in. Not supported on first-generation iPad, iPad 2, and first-generation iPad mini.

Siri Suggestions for Shortcuts are supported on iPhone 6s or later, iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4.
