Sincephetelo MVA Fund provide compensation to road accidents victims.

The Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund (MVA Fund) commenced operations under the fuel levy system on the 1st January 1988.The MVA Fund was established by an Act of Parliament under the Motor Vehicle Accidents Act No. 13 of 1991 as the instrument by which the Government of Swaziland compensates road accidents victims who have suffered bodily injuries or loss of support following the death of breadwinners.

The mandate of the SMVA Fund is, therefore defined clearly in the Act as being to provide for compensation for certain loss or damage caused unlawfully by means of motor vehicles and for matters incidental thereto. Every person has a right to life and bodily integrity and motorists have a duty to drive safely and avoid causing physical harm or depriving anyone the right to life.

Therefore motorists who fail to adhere to standards of safe driving and causes harm or death is deemed to have been negligent. In terms of liability under private law, the negligent driver is responsible for the restoration of any property damaged by his negligence as well as the payment of all the medical bills, funeral expenses and loss of support to the victims of the road traffic caused by his negligence.

In short the Fund uses fault based system, when you are not at fault you are covered. If you have been involved in an accident the key thing to do is to obtain a police report and visit the SMVA Fund offices.

Sincephetelo MVA fund is also responsible for Road Safety Awareness Campaigns in the Kingdom of Swaziland.

The Ingwenyama Cup

The Ingwenyama Cup, an innovative knockout football tournament comprising of 32 local teams, sponsored to the tune of E9 million courtesy of the SMVA Fund that will advance the face of Swazi football forever. The Ingwenyama Cup, is a tournament that comprises of both sport and culture. The teams consist of 12 Premier League, 12 National First Division and 8 Regional Super League teams. Covering a sponsorship period of three years (E3 million per year), and the eventual champions of the yearly tournament will walk away with E1.2 million.

The tournament is meant to go a long way in assisting SMVAF achieving its mandatory goal which is curbing the escalating number of road accidents. The tournament also will change the lives of many in sports or social aspect of their lives in the country. This tournament works as a tool in marketing campaign.
