Tony Braxton was born in Severn, Maryland, United States, on October 7, 1967. He was the daughter of a pastor, so he grew up in the strictest Protestant faith environment, where he was banned from dealing with popular culture. Encouraged by his mother, he and his sister became part of the church choir. At home, the gospel is the only music genre that is allowed, but they love to see Soul Train when their parents leave. Years later, his parents turned to other doctrines, so his vision of secular music began to open up, allowing his vocal style to develop. Because of the strength and low tone of his voice, Toni is used to be used as a model for male singers such as Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder or Michael McDonalds, and Chaka Khan. He began to have some success thanks to the music he made spontaneously with his sisters. When he finished his studies he prepared to become a music teacher, but in a short time he would leave the university after being discovered by producer and composer Bill Pettaway when he sang at a gas station. With the help of Pettaway, Toni and his sisters signed a contract with Arista in 1990, forming the group The Braxtons.

Toni Braxton (born Toni Michelle Braxton on October 7, 1967) is an American singer and actress. Known for her serious contralto voice, Braxton has won the seven Grammy awards throughout her career.

His solo career as a soloist in 1993, publishing his self-titled debut album, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 list of best selling records in the United States. The success continued with his second album Secrets which contains the song Un-Break My Heart, a ballad that became a worldwide success and managed to position Toni Braxton as an international star. In total it is estimated that the album Secrets of the twenty million copies sold worldwide.
