The art of tattooing and world culture

In technical terms, the tattoo is a micro pigment implantation. Tattoos can be made against human or animal skin. Tattoos in humans are a form of body modification, while tattoos in animals are generally used as identification.

Tattoos used to be often used by the tribal estranged in a region in the world as a marking of territory, degrees, rank, even signify one's health. Tattoos are widely used by Polynesian, Filipino, Borneo, African, North American, South American, Mesoamerican, European, Japanese, Cambodian, and Chinese. Although in some circles tattoos are considered taboo, tattoo art remains something popular in the world.

The word "tattoo" comes from the Tahitian language, "tatu" means to signify something.

Historically, the body tattoo has been done since 3000 years BC (before Christ). Tattoos were found for the first time in a mummy contained in Egypt. And supposedly it is considered that makes the tattoo then spread to the tribes of the world, including one of the Indian tribes in the United States and Polynesia in Asia, then evolved into all the tribes of the world one of the Dayak tribe in Kalimantan.

There are various ways in tattooing. Some use animal bones as needles as can be found in Eskimos, Dayak tribes with orange tree spines, and others use hot copper to print dragon images on the skin as can be found in China. Not that it does not hurt in the process of making a tattoo. Actually the pain must be experienced when making tattoos on the body, but because of the high value of tattoos, and self-esteem obtained, then the pain is not considered a problem.

There are different types and varieties of tattoos, depending on what the tribe believes, and in every region generally have different perceptions about tattoos, although in principle it is almost the same.
