YSC Race GPS Logger

Audio race start and finish with GPS location recording and upload to server.

Relatively simple app to give audio start and finish sequence. GPS position logging every 5s to upload to server for calculating race results.

The objective is for races to be conducted with minimal effort on OOD, or even, in light winds, with no OOD at all.

NB To get my Android phone to continue to play audio and make geolocation readings while dormant is fairly excruciating! I have managed to get it to work now, as far as I can tell, but it still needs some intervention after installing:

1. Start the app running - it should ask permission to use location (GPS chip) and storage (including images and other random things - it only needs to be able to save an ID and the list of sailors)

2. In the app START RECORDING after a few fixes close the app.

3. Now if you open the location admin screen (This will probably be different on different phones but I long press the compass arrow icon in the quick-settings-drag-down-menu). Set the location mode to High Accuracy using GPS. There is also a link from here to all apps that have asked for location access and GPS Logger should be listed.

4. In the settings menu find Battery & Performance -> app battery saver -> GPS Logger and set it to no restrictions. i.e. remove any attempt by the operating system to decide you must be bored of taking GPS fixes after five minutes.
